Protected Matters Search Tool
Lapis was engaged by the Department of Climate Change, Energy and the Environment and Water to build the Protected Matters Search Tool.
The Tool enables the proponents of development project to know if their actions might impact the local environment.
They can search the Protected Matters Search Tool to see what’s protected under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
Savanna Burning Abatement Tool (SavBAT)
The Australian Government is committed to reducing Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions to meet international emission reduction targets, developing a cleaner environment plan and adapting to the impacts of climate change.
The Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF) provides incentives for businesses and the community to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through a range of activities across the Australian economy. This includes reducing or avoiding emissions, or by removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and sequestering carbon (such as in soil or trees). Approved greenhouse gas abatement projects generate saleable carbon credits.
To make carbon credit calculations for a savanna fire management project less complex and time-consuming, Lapis created a web-based application SavBAT – the Savanna Burning Abatement Tool which automates calculations required to estimate carbon credits for savanna fire management projects.
